Blue Tit reveal the top men’s hair trends for Spring/Summer 2017

Hair is similar to fashion in many ways – each season, we are eager to discover the hottest trends and what to wear come Spring/Summer or Autumn/Winter. Timeless styles exist in fashion in the same manner as iconic hairstyles never get old.

For Chris Merrick, salon manager at Blue Tit Clapton, 3 styles in particular will turn heads this Spring/Summer:

– Pompadour: This Fifties style works best on a full head of thick hair, and is ideal for anyone trying impatiently to grow a man-bun. The Pompadour can be made to look as ‘finished’ or as ‘undone’ as preferred, and can be styled quickly and with ease. Keep the sides really short, with a high fade, to really emphasise the length and volume in the top section. Style the top section by using a volume cream on damp hair, before brushing it back in to place, or sweeping over to one side, with your fingers. Add definition, texture and hold with a medium to firm hold texture paste, ideally one with a natural or matte finish.
The Mod Chop: The Indie trend is making a comeback. The male models at Topman Design rocked the ‘Mod’ look in different variations. Chris’s favourite variation is a long fringe paired with thick sideburns, as it is contemporary with a real urban edge. To style, try using some sea salt spray to add some light texture and grittiness, before blow-drying.
Geek chic: This season sees the return of geek-chic. Seen dominating the catwalk at Mihara Yasuhiro and Charles Jeffrey, where models wore their hair in an array of sleek, retro styles including neat side partings, sweeping fringes and front disconnections. To keep the look wearable and fresh, keep hair longer, and to make the cut less severe, opt for a floppy side fringe.

What’s your favourite?
